Let’s face it: We all spend a lot of time on social media, personally and professionally. In fact, it’s crucial for small businesses.
But what does this mean for our mental health?
In honor of World Mental Health Day yesterday, I invited producer and lifestyle host Lucie Fink on for an episode of #AskingForMyself on Instagram Live to talk about how to prioritize mental wellness in the digital age.
As someone who makes a living producing digital content, Lucie knows a thing or two about the challenges posed by a largely “online lifestyle.” I asked Lucie how she balances her online and offline life.
Her top tip: Exercise restraint.
“First thing in the morning, I ban myself from going on Instagram,” Lucie said. Instead, she has breakfast, meditates or does yoga before ‘“mindlessly migrating” toward her phone or computer. “Don’t let social media be the first thing that bombards you in the morning,” she advises.
To keep track of the amount of time she’s spending online, Lucie utilizes Apple’s built-in time monitoring feature. She sets time limits to keep her digital life in check.
What are some strategies you use to strike a healthy balance between your online/offline life? Share in the comments!
